EXECUTIVE  OVERVIEWS

We offer executive overviews in the areas of systems development and project management.  These overview sessions are typically one day and for groups of less than ten upper management people.  We also work one-on-one with executives at their request.  The executive overviews are customized to the company and situation.  Some companies want a preview of what we will later teach their people.

An executive overview session is an opportunity for the executives to discuss problems without a consulting contract.  The executive overviews are normally conducted by Paul Saunders who is a senior IT professional with experience at all levels of IT.

  CUSTOMIZED  TRAINING

We can tailor our courses to fit your requirements and modify course content to suit your people.  We can mix and match parts of the Systems Analysis and Project Management courses.  We would want to work with you prior to the course to ensure a good fit.

Course schedules can be altered to meet your time frame.  Courses can be condensed, but not to the point where the training becomes ineffective.  We prefer to start courses on a Monday in order to have a "fresh" group, but we can do any days, including Saturday.

The cost to customize a course for your organization would be minimal as long as the subjects to be included are in the general field of systems analysis and project management.  Our instructors have extensive experience in the IT area and are able to discuss most topics.  We would, of course, still need time to tailor a course.  We may appear to deliver our courses off the top of our heads, but we still work to prepare the delivery.  The customization of a course would not change our interactive style of teaching.

 IN - HOUSE  COURSES

Our courses can be conducted on-site for an organization.  The client company provides the training facility, and we provide everything else.  The training facility can be a conference room as long as the space is large enough for the size of the group.  No special computer equipment is required.

There are advantages to having an in-house course as compared to having several employees attend a general admission seminar.  The advantages are:

Cost:  Sending a person to a general admission seminar may cost significantly more than just the individual's salary and the seminar registration fee.  If the seminar is out of town, there are travel time and travel expenses to consider.  The cost of an in-house course for 20 people may be equal to the cost of sending four people to an out of town seminar.  If you have at least six people who need training, you should definitely consider an in-house course.  The rule of thumb is that in-house courses provide training for two people at the cost of one person.  We charge a fixed fee for an in-house course which includes all costs, including travel for the instructors.  The maximum size of classes is 20 attendees, but groups of 12-16 are more conductive to group interaction.

Schedule:  An in-house course can be scheduled at your convenience.  You can determine the schedule and location.  You could even request a Friday and Saturday schedule, or multiple Saturdays.

Tailored Content: Courses can concentrate on the subjects important to your organization and de-emphasize those areas you deem not as important.  We normally have more good material for each course than we have time to present.

Same Message: In an in-house session the people all hear the same message at the same time.  It is easier to gain acceptance of good techniques and practices if everyone in the organization can discuss the problems together.  For example, we have helped several companies implement their new systems (project) development methodology as part of a training course.

An in-house course may provide the impetus to entice people from other departments to join a training session.  Communication between sections and departments generally improves after the attendees work on group projects in training exercises.  Our courses are not bits and bytes but concepts, methods, and techniques.  Non IT personnel can benefit from understanding the role and work of IT staff as presented in a training course.

If a company does not have the necessary training facility for an in-house course, or they want to hold the course off their own premises, we can assist in locating and arranging for the course to be held at a local hotel.  We have experience in running training sessions at hotels and conference sites.  The cost of the training facility is the responsibility of the company for whom we conduct the training.  If you have a small group of people who need training but cannot justify your own in-house course, you may be able to share a course with someone else.  We may be able to help you connect with another company in order to share a course.
