OUR INSTRUCTORS
Paul R. Saunders, CDP, CSP, is a systems professional with extensive experience in systems and IT. He started as an Analyst for Standard Oil of California and became Systems Manager for Colgate-Palmolive, Director of DP for Food Fair Stores, and Director of the MIS Division for American Airlines. Paul is currently the CEO of an international management consulting firm in Nashville.
Paul has designed and managed many computer systems applications and computer installations in different industries and countries. He has diverse project experience both as sole member of a project, and in managing multiple-million dollar projects. The projects have included state-of-the-art approaches in the computer software development area and in the engineering and non-computer fields. Paul was a pioneer in advocating the data base approach to managing information.
Paul taught systems analysis as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Management at New York University for five years and is a seminar leader known for his practical and stimulating approach. A published author in the field, Paul is active in several professional societies. He currently serves on the Nashville Chapter Board of AITP and is a Past International President of ASM.
Paul has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from UCLA and a MBA from the City University of New York. Paul and his family make their home in Nashville.
Betty
J. Friedlander is a Senior Associate of Saunders Systems with 20 years in the systems
field. Betty began as a programmer and systems analyst involved in diverse applications,
including database management and inquiry systems. She gained project management
experience working for large software companies including Informatics General Corporation
(now Sterling Software) and Candle Corporation. With Pacific Information Management, Betty
managed information resource management projects for clients.
In 1991, Betty started her consulting company, M
ARCOMM, to provide services to small high tech businesses. During a 13 month contract as the Interim Executive Director for the Association for Systems Management, Betty administered many projects.Betty is an accomplished trainer in database systems, 4GLs, and systems analysis as well as project management. She has published systems articles and wrote a monthly column for Database Programming & Design.
Betty has a BA degree from UCLA. She and her family have relocated to the Nashville area after years in Southern California

Charles E.
Jones is a Senior Associate of Saunders Systems with over 20 years in systems
development and the MIS field. "C" has designed and implemented batch and
on-line systems in accounting, inventory control, purchasing, financial forecasting, and
personnel areas for several major firms. This work involved both data modeling and process
modeling and structured analysis.
After several years as a programmer/analyst, senior systems analyst, and consultant, "C" became Assistant Director of Administrative Systems for Vanderbilt University. He also worked as a Systems Manager for Service Merchandise Company and as VP Systems Development for Third National Bank.
"C" has extensive training experience in addition to his systems development background. He has taught systems and data processing courses at Tennessee Technical University, Nashville State Technical Institute, and at Tulane University in New Orleans. "C" has been giving systems seminars for several years with the Saunders Systems Training Corporation of Nashville. He is known for his dry sense of humor and getting the seminar attendees involved in class discussion.
"C" is also President of MJB & Associates, Inc., a management consulting firm that provides services in MIS and Human Resources. "C" holds a BS in Engineering from Tennessee Tech and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. "C" and his wife Myrna reside near Lexington, Kentucky.
Ralph E.
Hillman, Ph.D., is a Senior Associate of Saunders Systems and an expert in the field
of communication. He presently combines communication consulting with teaching speech,
public speaking, and interpersonal communication at Middle Tennessee State University. In
his consulting work, Ralph works with many celebrities in Nashville television and the
country music industry. He also has corporate clients that range from WTVF (Channel 5) to
State Farm Insurance, Vanderbilt Law School, State of Tennessee and Arnold Aerospace
Companies.
Ralph has taught at MTSU for over 20 years where he won "Outstanding Teacher" awards and is known for making the best popcorn on campus. He also taught in Hawaii and at the University of Wisconsin and Miami University. Ralph has written three books, Communication Strategies, Work For Your Voice, (WFYV is in its fourth printing) and his latest, Delivering Dynamic Presentations. In earlier years Ralph has worked as a disc jockey, shoe salesman, puppeteer and clown.
Ralph received his BS and MA degrees from the University of Iowa and his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He and Susan and their three children live in Murfreesboro.
Edward J.
Zinkiewicz, CSP, is a Senior Associate of Saunders Systems with 25 years experience in
the systems and IT fields. Ed started in computers with the Battelle Memorial Institute,
was Office Manger for Center for California Public Affairs, systems analyst and DP manager
for the United Methodist Board of Discipleship, and Manager-retail group, MIS Department
of GENESCO.
Ed started EZ Solutions, Inc. in 1982 to develop and market software products for micro computers. Ed has been teaching and giving seminars since 1975 and has worked with Paul Saunders teaching systems and project management seminars since 1985.
He is a published author on budgeting, planning, and using computers and has years of project experience, especially in the P.C. software area. Ed is presently developing Internet applications which add database functionality to web sites.
Ed has a BS degree in Math from Ohio State University and his MA from Claremont Graduate School. He and his family live in Nashville where Ed is active in AITP (Formerly DPMA) and known as a science fiction buff.
Telse
Saunders is a Senior Associate of Saunders Systems with many years
experience in the writing and education fields.
Telse assists in conducting the one-day Effective Writing course for
Saunders Systems.
She is an Instructor in writing for the Developmental Studies Department
at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).
Telse is known for
her active and interactive style of teaching writing.
She also has had twenty years business experience as a convention and
meeting planner for several major hotels and as an administrator in an
international consulting company.
Telse was the principal editor for the recently revised 150-page Green
Book used as a resource and reference in the Effective Writing course.
Telse
graduated cum laude in English from MTSU and also has her MA degree in English
from MTSU. Telse
and her family reside
in Nashville.
Telse also does individual tutoring in English grammar and writing skills. Tutoring can help students prepare for college placement tests or pass college English courses. Business people who have difficulty in writing can be helped by individual tutoring. Telse has several years of tutoring experience, including working with students who have learning difficulties and those who have English as a second language.
