MONTHLY  WORDS OF WISDOM

LET YOURSELF BE CREATIVE

Are creative people born with a unique ability that enables them to see things differently, and to come up with imaginative, innovative solutions to problems? No, according to teachers of creative problem solving. They maintain that creativity is learnable behavior that anyone can develop. In a mass society, however, there are many barriers to being creative.

One of the primary blocks to creativity is fear. The following is a list of ten fears that get in the way of creativity:

    1. Fear of making mistakes

    2. Fear of being seen as a fool

    3. Fear of being criticized

    4. Fear of being misused

    5. Fear of being "alone"

    6. Fear of disturbing traditions and making changes

    7. Fear of being associated with taboos

    8. Fear of losing the security of habit

    9. Fear of losing the love of the group

    10. Fear of truly being an individual

Suggestion: Becoming more conscious of your motives is an important step toward creative behavior. Don't let fear stand in the way of your natural curiosity and you belief in you own ideas.

We try to teach creativity as part of our training courses. We believe that training pays rather than costs. Courses can be tailored to fit your requirements. Give us a call at 615-367-1717 or Paul@SaundersSystems.com.
